This is a rare opportunity for an intimate slow stroll through the Marin open spaces and fields with ranchers Bill Niman and his wife, author and sustainable food advocate Nicolette Hahn Niman.  Signed copies of Nicolette’s book Defending Beef will be available for purchase.

JOIN US — SATURDAY, JUNE 11, 2016 for a slow walkabout with Bill and Nicolette on their BN Ranch in Bolinas.  Whether you are a meat-lover or not, this is an extraordinary opportunity to learn about sustainable ranching practices in an intimate setting from two of our most informed and passionate advocates. Come see what life is like on a ranch where animals are responsibly raised (several heritage breeds) in a way that also stewards the land and the native ecosystem to ensure a healthier future for us all.

At BN Ranch, a walking tour and Q&A

11:00 – 1:00

Lunch at that the Ranch,  1pm to about 2:30pm

$15 / adult and children are free

Purchase your tickets here:

(From the South Bay, allow about 2 hrs for travel time.  Attendees will receive address and directions, and an optional caravan or carpool plan. Please stop for a bathroom break prior to arriving at the ranch to ease demands on the septic system.  Thanks!)

Bring your lunch and beverages, and any favorite ingredient you’d like to add to a collaborative salad.  We will provide the spring greens and a few surprise local specialties to create the day’s shared salad and menu.

Bring $20 (cash or check, please) if you plan to purchase a signed copy of Defending Beef by Nicolette Hahn Niman.

Optional stops after lunch:

At 2:30 pm you can say goodbyes, ….or…. Ann Duwe has offered to lead the second half of our adventure to some of her favorite haunts –possibly starting at the Gospel Flat Farm Stand (we’ll stay long enough for folks to buy stuff to take home). We all can decide the stops, including:

– Hog Island Oyster Farm
– Nick s Cove
– Pt. Reyes Books
– Toby s Feed Barn
– Cowgirl Creamery at Tomales Bay Foods, Pt. Reyes
– Picco Pizzeria

For dinner: we could all end up at The Station House (reservations required), or Nick’s Cove, or even Rancho Nicasio!

About BN Ranch:

Bill was our featured dinner guest at the Country Gourmet, Sunnyvale in January. 40 of us were at 4 tables, and Bill moved from table to table, having each of the 4 dinner courses at a different table with a different group.

His presence is impactful, his words – inspirational.
