FREE — FED UP! Movie Screening and Discussion

October 29, 2014 • 2:45 pm5:00 pm

So what is all this talk about being FED UP! ?  Join Slow Food South Bay and San Jose State University’s Environmental Studies Department for a screening of this new documentary about how our food choices in America evolved and how they just might be linked to many of our health issues.

Wednesday, Oct 29th, on SJSU campus —  Martin Luther King Jr. Library, Room 225.

2:45 – 5pm  Movie showing,  and light refreshments of organic, seasonal and locally sourced food.

There will be a Q & A discussion led by Slow Food and SJSU after the movie.

“FED UP!” chronicles rising obesity rates in America and the food industry’s role in aggravating it. Katie Couric narrates the film, and also served as its executive producer, along with Laurie David  of “An Inconvenient Truth”.

Mark Hyman and others carry us through the story of how we got to where we are now in the sugar-laced foods, and the obesity issues facing our children.
Check out the movie trailer .

Immediately following its showing at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, the food industry countered with their response .  And thus began a very compelling conversation about our food choices in America and how each of us might use our purchasing power as consumers to change what’s available in our markets.
